my Story.
our Mission.
The Founder, Arthur Poston, played basketball at many levels. He was “one of the lucky ones” whose talent was noticed in his local neighborhood in Charlotte, NC. He ultimately played over seas and for the Charlotte Hornets from 1993 to 1997. He has continued to be a part of basketball through coaching youth for the last 20 years.
After deciding to leave professional basketball due to injuries and family, Arthur started his second career as an IT professional. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and is currently obtaining his master’s degree in data management. He has spent over 20 years working in the IT industry. He has worked for large corporations, but his true passion is helping small businesses.
Focused Development is a 501c3 organization that focuses on our greatest passion, helping our community. We do this by use of our greatest skills to help others achieve their goals through basketball and IT solutions for small businesses.
Participating in sports teaches teamwork, leadership and goal setting. These are invaluable life lessons. Learning these lessons as youth can only propel you further in your adult career. Our vision is that as our youth grow into adults. The lessons they will learn through basketball will help them achieve their goals. We believe youth character building will help create responsible adults. We want to empower others to dream big and have a plan to achieve those dreams.
